Join us for a tour of the Florida International University (FIU) College of Engineering and Computing where you will witness the cutting edge research facilities including the Titan America Structures and Construction Testing Laboratory and the International Hurricane Research Center Wall of Wind (WOW).

Titan America Structures and Construction Testing Laboratory

This laboratory, endowed by Titan America LLC, provides hands-on educational experience for students and supports research and development of innovative hurricane-resistant and durable construction materials, structural systems and components. It is one of the largest facilities in Florida and is equipped with a full-scale structural testing system (FSST) capable of testing full-scale structural members, such as 65-ft bridge girders.

International Hurricane Research Center Wall of Wind

The International Hurricane Research Center at FIU is an interdisciplinary research center focused on the mitigation of hurricane damage to people, the economy, and the built and natural environments. The 12-fan Wall of Wind (WOW) is the largest and most powerful university research facility of its kind and is capable of simulating a Category 5 hurricane – the highest rating on the Saffir-Simspon Hurricane Wind Scale.
